Grade 9 math is where the gaps show up.
Ontario Grade 9 math is MTH1W, the de-streamed course introduced in 2021. It asks a student to use everything from Grades 5 through 8 at once, and anything that was never solid underneath starts costing marks.
From this school year, the EQAO Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics counts for 20% of the final course mark.
Every class is taught by an Ontario Certified Teacher with a math qualification and a current vulnerable sector check.
We find what's underneath, then teach two MTH1W strands: Number and Algebra, including linear relations.
Your first week is free: both classes and your first written note. You pay only if you continue into week 2.
What this is
A twelve-week course covering the Number and Algebra strands of MTH1W. Two live 45-minute sessions a week, small groups.
The twelve weeks starting after Thanksgiving run through to the January assessment window for Semester 1 students. Semester 2 and full-year students write in June. The course covers the Number and Algebra strands of MTH1W; the assessment is why the term is timed this way.
The first session each week teaches. The second takes up the work — questions, corrections, and the specific places students got stuck.
The twelve weeks
Number sense and operations
Fractions, decimals, integers, ratio and rate. The material Grade 9 assumes and rarely re-teaches.
Algebra
Variables, expressions, solving equations, and what the symbols are actually standing for.
Linear relations
Tables, graphs, equations, slope, and moving between all four without losing the thread.
Each week includes a practice set. Everything is written to the Ontario MTH1W curriculum.

Price
Limited to 30 Early Enrolment places, locked for as long as the student stays. After those places, the rate is $299 a month.

After the 30 Early Enrolment places: $299/month

Every week you'll know, in writing, what your child is working on, where it came from and what we're teaching next. We don't promise marks. Nobody honestly can. Every week, you'll know in writing where things stand.
When do I pay?
Your first week is free: both classes and your first written note. You pay only if you continue into week 2. Payment is due before that second week's weeknight lesson. We email an invoice once your class is confirmed to run.
What if my child misses a class?
The practice sheet and the weekly note cover what was taught. Missed classes aren't refunded or made up.
What happens in the weekend class?
It starts with a quick problem that shows where each child got stuck, and the rest of the class works on exactly that.
Classes begin after Thanksgiving.
Nothing is charged until your class is confirmed. We email an invoice then.
